Let me start this by apologizing. After consideration (and a few notes
from paul xxxxxxxx) I find that I should have emailed you first, before
starting proceedings that are considered the normal flow of business
outside of the university environment. There are two reasons I did
this-

First, I dealt with you once, more than a year ago. At that time, I
found you to be completely unreasonable. To my recent surprise, I've
found that you've compounded that unreasonableness I experienced before
with a web page dedicated to ridiculing me. Think about it a minute- if
someone displays this behavior, do they seem like the type that'd say
"sure, I'll leave ya alone, no problem". Ask Boursey if he'll leave you
alone.

Second, the way it's done in the Real World is to deal with the owners
of the equipment. Your service provider, UIUC, is the owner of the
equipment. You're in a very insular environment in school, covet it
while you can.

Now, let me ask you nicely to remove the pages that reference me. I
don't want this to become some major snit, because I've got better
things to do with my time.

Let me point out a few things:

(from your homepage)

> Warnings
>
> If and when people don't leave me alone, I get cranky, even
> if I haven't mentioned my desire for solitude to anyone.

Privacy is a wonderful thing, it seems you covet it yourself. Why rob
me of mine, just because I was fool enough to reply to one of your
postings? Which leads to:

> I'm touchy about censorship in general - but I also understand
> what the word means. Moderation is not censorship. Don't try
> to tell me it is - it won't work.

Does bullying someone into silence count in your book as censorship?
Does threatening to put up pages full of falsehoods (yes, your page
about me has several) if people 'act stupid' count as 'censorship by
coercion'? It should, because that's just what it is, intentional or
not.

I'm not asking for a lot here- I'm asking for my privacy. I'm asking
you to act like I don't exist, which is a courtesy I'll happily extend
to you, and *have* extended since our encounter back when. Is leaving
someone the hell alone an act which you find yourself incapable of? Do
me a big favor and prove me wrong.
