Over the years, I've found (and written) a lot of memorable documents. These are a few of the ones that couldn't be classified elsewhere, the things either by or about me that have at least a little bit of entertainment value. Most of this stuff really is worthwhile. Trust me.
Skirvin FAQs
For some reason, there's a lot of people out there that really don't like me...and they sometimes write FAQs about me. Here they are.
- The anti.tim.skirvin FAQ, by Mark Hardwidge
This was the first one, and the one that took the most work for the writer (and the least for me - I didn't even know who Mark was before I saw this FAQ). I'm still proud of it - and even my parents are amused. - Tiny Tim Skirvin FAQ, by S.P.
It's not really that much of a FAQ, but, well, I like to collect them... - Tim Skirvin FAQ UIUC, by Archimedes Plutonium (Alternate version)
Probably the worst yet. Doesn't even pretend to have any questions. Still, it's kinda funny, and I like being called a mobster... - Bill Palmer & Tim Skirvin: Key Differences, by Bill Palmer
It's not really a FAQ, but... Bill Palmer is a resident of my Killfile Dungeon, which was recently written about in Internet Underground. This is Bill's response to the story. In the words of my friend Todd, "If there were ever a really inaccurate description of Skirv posing as an accurate description, that was it."
Newsgroups
How many people do you know that have newsgroups about them?
- cmsg newgroup news.admin.net-abuse.squash.tim_skirvin.and-gang
From this newgroup message (real author unknown), I got my own newsgroup in the Big-8. I was the first. It rocked. Of course, nobody really carried it and, since it was a forgery, it was deleted within a few hours, but hey, it was fun while it lasted... - cmsg newgroup alt.tim-skirvin.baby-boy
This is just an alt.* group, but it's still mine. Nobody carries it either. (Note: in a few posts there was mention of alt.asswipe.tim-skirvin. This group never had a newgroup, so it never really existed. Darn.) - alt.fans.tim-skirvin.die.die.die
Somewhere out there is the newgroup for this wonderful piece of work. I wish I could find it. - cmsg newgroup free.skirvin.what.where.you.thinking
This was my first free.* group, made in retaliation for my having created the hierarchy in the first place. Too bad Howard misspelled "were".
Stories and such about me
Sometimes people write stuff where I'm a character. It can be pretty good stuff sometimes. It ususally isn't, of course, but...
- The TOUCH OF TINY TIM, by S.P.
This really, really sucks. Oh well. - A Fairy Tale (or: Still Waiting for Godot),
by Andrew Nellis
Andrew has this desire to write stories about net-abuse stuff... It's worth a lot. This is his second and, again, I'm in it... - "That Skirvy Dude", by S.P.
It's a song about me. Aaah... - The Attack of the 50 Foot Grubor, by Andrew Nellis
I have a cameo appearance in this far-too-popular story about a bunch of Net.Kooks. Go me. Kibo's HappyNet Manifesto (1998 Edition)
Kibo is one of Usenet's biggest legends (if not the biggest). And I'm in one of his works. It rules to be me sometimes... - Death in the Halls of Allen, by 'Chuck'
This was written by a friend of mine as part of a disciplinary action. It's the first story that I know of that I'm killed in.
Stuff I wrote
Here's the various documents out there that I've been a part of only because I wrote them... Think of them as a history lesson.
- Rules of the Quad, by Tim Skirvin
These were the rules that me and my Quad lived by for my senior year. I proclaimed them by fiat, but they were followed... - The Allen Hall Constitution, by the Constituion and Rules Committee
I helped out strongly in the writing of both of these documents, because I was on the appropriate committees. I'm still proud of the changes I made. Re-ratification every year allows for mass coolness... 1998-1999 Year, 1999-2000 Year - Allen Hall Council General Assembly Procedure - by CRC
Much like the Constitution of Allen Hall, I worked on these with the CRC. They work reasonably well, if they're followed... Short Version, Long Version - The Judges-L FAQ, by Tim Skirvin
David Stodolsky was the owner and operator of the Judges-L mailing list, set up to "watch over" Usenet. Unfortunately, he was also an idiot. After one altercation.... - The Book of Genesis, by Tim Skirvin and God (Chapter 2)
In the beginning, there was nothing. Then a Book appeared. And I annotated it. - My first post to alt.religion.scientology
I'd been lurking for a while; this was my first official post to the newsgroup. It set off a brief career of torturing Scientology, culminating in my first lawsuit threat. Joy. - My last post to Hannah
I include this one reluctantly, but I do include it. To me, this was one of my better flames; she never responded to it in any way, at least in public, I know that much. I'm proud of it, though not of the legacy. - My last post to unihigh.seniors
From the creation of unihigh.*, the groups were my own personal domain - they rose and fell as I posted, and without me they were doomed. Unfortunately for them, I graduated. Finally, I realized that I had to recognize that fact... - My first post to alt.humor.best-of-usenet
In the history of Usenet, one of the highest honors is to have somebody repost your message on alt.humor.best-of-usenet, the group of the Gods. After more than a year, I finally succeeded.
Posts of Note
I've posted lots of stuff through the years that I've felt have needed to be saved somewhere - and, of course, I've never gotten around to it. Now that I've talked myself into an excuse, though - well, here's a few of them.
