Good Companies - Jungle Jim's
Jungle Jim's is, in my opinion, the world's greatest grocery store. It's located just outside of Cincinnati; my family and I have been going there for well over a decade every time we're in the area, which happens at least twice a year as we visit my cousins in Middletown. The place is huge - about 6 acres, according to the web site, and I can believe it. The variety of food is amazing enough, but then you toss in a few odd set-pieces like a variety of animatronic creatures and a monorail...
The only real problem with Jungle Jim's is that they have a strict (and enforced!) no-photography policy. My family has long been stymied by this policy; we would love to take pictures every time, to document all the new things we have found in the store! The only way around this is to obtain a photography pass, good for one day only and generally awarded only to members of the media. Once, my Dad went out of his way to obtain a photography pass, so he could get pictures of various produce types for his class; so this year, I decided to give it a shot myself...
I took 218 pictures that day; and I got stopped at least 10 times as I went through the store, cheerfully taking pictures of anything that looked amusing to me. I don't remember being quite that *gleeful* for quite some time, especially when I got to hold up my photography pass to the bewildered employees. Thwarting authority *and* getting to finally document this most wondrous of grocery stores for my web site... Could anything be quite as much fun?
I really do recommend visiting the store. My pictures are nice, but they don't do it justice. Jungle Jim's is a place to be experienced.
My pictures are here.
