Hello. My name's Timothy Skirvin; I'm a senior at University High School in Urbana, Illinois. This homepage isn't great, no, but it's better than nothing...

(Last updated: April 14, 1995)

First off, some information about myself. As I said, I'm a senior in high school; I've been accepted to the University of Illinois, and in the fall semester I will be attending the College of Engineering there, majoring in Computer Engineering. My interests are politics (I have very libertarian views, but tend to argue against conservatives much more than liberals), computers (plenty of uses for them), role-playing games, and reading sci-fi/fantasy novels. Trust me, it eats up my time.

I'm becoming a regular Usenet poster lately. Currently, I'm "debating" (closer to fighting) with a few people on the "sysop" groups, such as news.admin.net-abuse.misc and its precursor, while still sticking around and maintaining a presence on pnet.talk.politics, my main political group. I read plenty of other stuff, of course, but it's not worth getting into; if you care, mail me.

Goals: well, get out of high school. I like the place a lot, but I have to leave some time. I'm going to graduate, I don't doubt it. From there, though...well, I don't know yet. Possibly I'll be a computer programmer. Possibly I'll be a full-time system administrator. I'd rather go into politics. But I'm good at enough that I'll have my pick...once I decide.

Accomplishments: I'm currently Tech Editor for our school paper (which I really think is going downhill... *sigh*). I'm at least a National Merit Finalist. I got high SAT/ACT scores. I could go on, but I really hate bragging; I put that in because somebody might care, and it might look good on my resume some day.

Notes of the week (look for this to change randomly): As of the time I'm writing this, I do my debate (on television violence) in ten days. That's high stress. It'll put me in a bad mood for a while. Be careful.

Finally, a few comments. Yes, I know I have a distinctive writing style; that's basically my only characteristic people can figure me out with. Yes, I know I sound flamish most of the time, and often pretty arrogant; that comes from plenty of background information that I'm sure I'll tell you about if you bother to ask. Just remember that I am real, and that I do have a distinctive personality, and you'll understand what I'm talking about a lot sooner, if you ever could.

Now then, I'm sure that most people that are reading this stuff want some links or something, somewhere else to go from here. I'm not going to bother. I don't believe in giving all the information so easily from here; you can find someone else's page if you really want to do that. I like a lot of things; I'm not going to list them all. There's one page, somewhere, that lists off all the STUPID homepages in the world, all the stupid things that people have put in the Web for Gods-know-why reasons...I don't want to be remembered like the guy who listed all of his CD's online.

Instead, I'll give you this. Mail me. I'm not going to give you a link to do that, either; if you want to do it, just go ahead and mail me. It's interactive. That's how it's supposed to be. I'd rather that people ask me if they want information; I will give it, on request. And yes, I'll have plenty of stuff to give you, if you want to ask for it. Simple.

Well, that's about it. If you have questions, comments, or whatever, I really do exist, I really do read mail, I really do respond to talk requests. Usually.

If you want to talk to me, mail me first. Thanks.
