On 26 Mar 2002, after a freak heavy snowfall, my research group left work and made a 14' tall snow spire. Why? I don't think any of us were very clear on that. It was really fun, though... And it stayed up for nearly a week. Even now, you can see a dead patch of grass where the weight of the thing killed it...
