Halloween Party 2005

Beth and I claimed the Halloween party early this year - or at least we got the invitation out three hours before our first snailmail invites started arriving. Still, we were undaunted! It was an excellent party - the decorations looked good, the costumes were both better and nearly universal, and the turnout was quite good (~45). For good measure, we collapsed from exhaustion only after we'd cleaned up a good portion of it...

Special plug: my Space Ghost costume (which rocked!) and virtually all of the door prizes (t-shirts and baseball cap) were courtesy of Fake Rachel, who sent me the most excellent package of loot I've ever received. Thank you, Rachel!

Images
Waiting for Guests
Our cats (Tulip and Jesse) are very attentive when they know that people are coming over.
Waiting for Guests, II
They also know that they should pay attention when the flash starts going off.
Space Ghost
This is the costume I got from Rachel.
Space Ghost, Full Body
It looks silly, but I enjoyed it greatly.
Julie and James
Before the party, they were wearing no costumes.
Kevin
From Sin City. You know, Elijah Wood's character! I really liked this costume... Good job, Pat!
Flying Spaghetti Monster
Barry's outfit was...wow. Just creative.
Pharaoh
Mike's outfit was the shiniest.
Miscellaneous Renaissance Lady
Andrea was the first to show up in a Ren Faire dress, but she wasn't the last.
Spider-Man and Commander Keen
Rex would have looked better with his mask on. Rob was quite good in his role.
Suspicious Bee
Little Lance wasn't sure what to think about the flash going off over and over again, but his parents (DB and Raché) were happy at least.
Goth Girl
As Diane knows, all goth girls have green hair!
Markus the Elf
I was happy to see one of my users at the party.
Busy Tulip
Tulip didn't need a costume, she was the life of the party anyway...
Dorothy
Julie's outfit was quite accurate, I liked it...
Nothing
James gave up half way through his outfit gathering.
The Devil
Or A Devil, anyway. Yay, Beth!
More Flying Spaghetti Monster
He's everywhere!
Bad Kitty
Stay out of the candy!
FSM and Susan-Elf
Markus' Wife and Barry
Watching Evil Dead
Beth decided that this would be an appropriate background movie. The tree scene certainly turned heads.
Zoe and Blade
Mikki and her husband, wearing very different genres of costume.
Ace Ventura and Daphne
Beth and her husband were also quite different genres. It worked by me.
Kevin and Space Ghost
Space Ghost should really be blasting that villain behind him.
Greetings, Citizens Timbecca!
I liked saying "GREETINGS!" really loud.
Many Costumes
Going around: James, Mike, Pat; Julie, Diane, Rob, Andrea
Tulip
Beth asked me to hold onto these pictures, to prove that our cat is, in fact, pretty.
Tulip with Bunny Ears
Look, it's a costume!
Andrew the Cow
As Barry said, "he's only 1/4 happy to see us!"
Kitty Litter
A wonderful Halloween treat, from DB and Raché!
Enjoying the Litter
"Mmm-mmm-mmm!", says Other Tim!
Dirt Pudding
I'm sure this would have been more appetizing for those that like chocolate.
Ren Faire Girl #2
Nicole looked good in her outfit.
Devil and Minion
I like Ella's devil-in-headlights look; Brian looks more cheerful.
River
Cheli, a friend of Ella's.
Beth's Ring
A shot of this had to be taken at some point; we are engaged, after all.
Piles Of Gifts
These were the future door-prizes for good (and bad) costumes, courtesy of Rachel.
Playful Tulip
Tulip was excited by the bangles that Andrea brought with her.
Final Fantasy VII
Cloud (Zeb), Tifa (Klara), and Yuffie (Caroline)
Yuffie
I'm impressed at how much effort these guys put into the costumes.
Cloud and Buster Sword
That's a big sword...
Scorned Prom Date
You can tell by the runny makeup. (Em's not that good at not smiling, though.)
Devils
Beth and Ella demonstrate the different colors that evil can take. (Red and Black, that's it.)
German Girl
Dan's costume did a very effective job of confusing everybody. Go Dan!
Zorro
She came with Dan; her name was Sarah; I never learned much more than this.
FSM Tries On A Hat
I think that Zorak belongs with the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
Another Group Arrives
It's Beth's old Roommates!
Bollywood Acress
:Danielle likes wearing this stuff.
Ghost of Christmas Past
It's good to see Maggie in public sometimes.
Renaissance Dress #3
This was the last Ren Fairre dress of the night and, as is typical of Bridgette, the most cleavagous.
Spider-Man
Rex looked better with the hood on.
Content Tulip
She likes hanging out with all the people.
Anna Kournikova
Beth couldn't spell her costume-name. Heh. (This is Connie, BTW.)
Taking Off
The first batch of guests had to take off. Sad.
Posing Space Ghost
Barry wanted to get some better shots of super-heroic me.
Posing Space Ghost, II
There, it's better without glasses.
Power Bands
Eat my freeze ray!
Heroic Space Ghost
I am here to protect you! (I wish I could get the George Lowe voice out here.)
Beth's Hero
She kinda swooned.
FSM Eats Daphne
There's probably some kind of bad music playing in the background during this shot, as Daphne runs from the monster.
Posing Group
Carl, Beth, Beth, and Mike
Office-Mates
This is more what they generally look like around the office. Especially the tentacles.
FSM Flirting
There's something scary about the Flying Spaghetti Monster flirting.
Flying Spaghetti Monster
This is the best picture I got of the costume that night.
FSM and Elves
Susan's smile shows how happy she is that she's about to be eaten.
Zorro and German Girl
Sarah and Dan had to take off around now, too.
Zorro and German Girl, II
I got them to smile at least once.
Devil and Anna
Okay, Beth and Connie.
Bridgette's Hood
This made the outfit look better, IMO.
Kitty
I think Sarah said that she was a specific cat. I don't remember the cat's name.
Dead Construction Worker
I really did like this outfit; too bad I didn't catch his name.
Sarah and Friend
I really did like this costume.
Sarah and Jesse
It wasn't shocking to see Sarah go after the cats right away. The cats didn't mind either.
More Television
By this point, we'd switched from Evil Dead 2 to Shaun of the Dead.
Galadriel's Pendant
No, it wasn't just an excuse to get a picture of Bridgette's cleavage!
Construction Worker
By this point, I had pulled out my 50mm lens.
Klara
Many of the shots I got with it were excellent, like this one...
Andrea
...but really, I knew I'd have to switch back eventually, to have the better range.
FSM Portrait
For a while, though, I could keep on getting cool shots like this.
Relaxing
I like the expression on Julie's face.
Markus and Susan
I'm going to be sad to see Markus go soon.
Sarah and Tulip
I told you she was all about the kitties!
Construction Scar
It was a good makeup job, certainly. Too bad I never got a decent shot of the hammer.
Happy Family
Eat that fist! Eat it!
More Kevin
It's a creepy outfit, more so with the cobwebs.
Annoyed Kid
"Okay, you can pick me up now..."
Posing Together
One more shot with the 50mm! (Bridgette, Danielle, Chris)
Still Vegging
'Twas a good movie, apparently.
First Prize - Flying Spaghetti Monster
Definitely the best costume of the night, he got an Adult Swim baseball cap.
Lamest Prize - Nothing
He gets a genuine Ducks t-shirt! Whoo!
Second Prize - Buster Sword
Okay, so Zeb got the shirt; the sword was the prize-winner, though.
Puck (with Camera)
I wish Bryan would have worn the prize I gave him, for "least dressed".
Sir Ed
Chainmail is always impressive.
Lady Jen
She could have used more armor, IMO. Oh, wait, she was a pirate, nevermind.
Continued Vegging
Shaun of the Dead was just ending, I believe.
Baby with Sword
Yes, let's arm the child! That will make things better!
Hannah
Hannah and Darren arrived near the end of the party.
Darren
Still, it was gootd to see the two of them, as usual.
Cyborg
Apparently "Donna Haraway's Theory of the Cyborg", to be specific.
Hannah and Darren
I always get this shot. It's always cute. It's genrally unnecesary.
