Margaret's Going-Away Parties - 22 Jul, 03 Aug 2007
In late July, Margaret announced that she had gotten a job in Alaska and would be leaving in early August. After having her as a part of our family for decades, this was a traumatic change; but at the very least, we could have a good going-away party (or two) for our good friend.

Images
Free Garage Sale
Margaret wanted to pawn a lot of her stuff off on us.
Free Garage Sale, II
It worked pretty well, all told.
Mark
That's a really odd pose for him.
Bridget
It's odd thinking that I'm not going to see her again.
Loser!
Who's the loser? What'd I do? Why is the 'L' backwards?
Harry Potter Poster
I knew that Missy would need this.
Expectant Bridget
Just one more hot dog?
Skeptical Margaret
I think she didn't like the idea of over-feeding her dog.
Norton Wine
I don't think this was actually from her family, but I could be wrong.
Old Folks Talking
Mom, Margaret, and Deb were definitely having a good time before the young'uns showed up.
Dad with Wine
He likes telling us
Wedding Rings
I don't know if we ever got a proper shot of our wedding rings.
Jones Holiday Pack
Behold, vileness!
Trying the Icky Stuff
Tim and Eh were willing to try it all.
Jones Sodas
From left to right: Green Bean Casserole was bad; Cranberry was fine I guess; Fruitcake was boring and too-sweet; Mashed Potato was amongst the worst substances known to man; and Turkey & Gravy was not quite that bad, but close. In short: avoid! Except for novelty and the joy of watching your friends retch.
Gorvin Gorilla
Nate was acting the part, too. Deb just wishes she could continue to get her monkeys through campus mail.
Margaret's New Camera
The second party took place on the 3rd, and was there so Margaret could try out her new camera...
Cheesecakes
...and so we could have one more batch of her cheesecakes.
Chocolate Cheesecake
Sadly, not all of them are accessible to me.
<FISH><
It'd been a while since I put one of these up.
Labelled Cheesecakes
The labels helped. (Coffee, Chocolate, Peanut Butter, White Chocolate Raspberry, Lime, and Lemon).
Cutting the Cake
Thus begin the festivities!
John Masiunas
I think that's his daughter with him, but I don't know for sure.
Grandpa Bob
Grandpa didn't know most of the people, so he stayed off to the side.
Grandpa and Flower Magazine
Heh.
Missy
Continuing the quest for an adequate picture.
Deb
She got Margaret's Vanilla Extract, and was very happy about it.
Nate's Cake
He took 1/3 of the while cheesecake! Gaah! (Of course, it was just chocolate...)
Lori Kae
Shew was late arriving, but that's okay.
Margaret Greeting People
I didn't know all of them.
Margaret and UPS Guy
For instance, I have no idea who this guy is, except that he knows Margaret well.
Grandpa and Bridal Magazine
This is after all of the weddings, too.
Making Progress
He was definitely making his way through that huge amount of cake!
Missy and High Schoolers
Except for the lighting, this wasn't too bad.
Margaret and Mark
Again, without context, there's not a whole lot I can say... but what am I supposed to do, cut pictures?
Mingling
Backs of professors and such. I think that's Mosbah.
Hort Clubbers
Again, I don't know the names! At least I recognize these guys.
???
Why don't I remember her name? I've been talking with her for years! Grr!
Margaret and Dan's Wife
She really did know a lot of folks.
Enjoying Cheesecake
Everybody loves cheesecake!
About to Sneeze?
Or that's the best guess I've got. (But that's a lot of people in the shot.)
Talking and Eating
That's the point of these things, isn't it?
Devoured Cake
One down.
Dan
He's kindof a Beckman refugee. I make odd connections.
All Done
He finished it!
Finished Plates
Everyone was making it through their food, it seems.
More Talking
Knowing who all these people in and the context in Margaret's life would help these labels a lot.
Playing with the Camera
She's still getting used to it, I'm told.
Smiling Folks
I don't remember the middle guy's name, but I do remember him as Argentinian.
Tim
Who grabbed my camera? This isn't a bad shot.
Missy, Again
Not too bad.
Missy, Smiling
This could work. I should steal this... oh, wait, I took it, I don't have to.
Kate
Taking off to seek her fortune in St Louis.
Heading Out
As the numbers thinned, Margaret looked at the cards the last time.
