After our group's summer school, I
needed a vacation very badly. Sadly, I didn't get the vacation for a
couple of weeks after the school, and even then it was mostly in town...
But I did get out of town for one day, to go with my brother to Great
America in Gurney, IL. It was really a pretty nightmarish trip, all told,
thanks to cars breaking down and obscene heat and my general disgust with
the amount of clothing that the 14-year-old girls were wearing, but I
still needed it and had a good time...
I also spent a lot of time playing with my camera, in a "what does
this do?" kind of way. So not all the shots are that great... Be kind.

Broken Car Danny's car broke down at the side of the road a few miles south of Peoria. It took forever to get a new rental car and make it up there... It really shouldn't take 5.5 hours to get from C-U to Gurney.
|
Danny and Jen We did make it, though. Of course, this was without little things like water...or Jen's health. We were lucky to have found dramamine, so she never did actually puke.
|
Lauren Luckily, Lauren brought one of the discount-cans, so we got in for a decent price. That was about the closest thing to going right that the day had.
|
Danny's Cup-Holder It only cost us $8 to get this thing of Sprite! And after that, it was only $1 refills! Wow. That's about twice as bad as Disney.

The Batman I took a break from the rides here, because I didn't like how shaken back-and-forth I'd been the last time I was on this ride. It gave me a chance to play with camera features.
|
Roller Coaster Not too bad a shot, see?
|
Roller Coaster On the other hand, this was a bad shot. But it helps me learn! Too bad I didn't actually keep track of which shot was with which settings.

Girl with too many prizes I don't remember getting upset as a kid for not having any such stuffed animals. I don't like things that are that big and worthless.
